About the CICM

The Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) is the UK's leading professional body for the credit management community. It represents credit professionals across all sectors of the economy, from commercial debt recovery and insolvency to consumer credit and trade credit insurance.

The CICM sets professional standards, provides qualifications and training, and advocates for best practice across the credit management sector. Its membership includes individuals and organisations at every level of the profession, from practitioners to senior leaders in some of the UK's largest businesses.

RCU and the CICM

RCU's founder, Amir Ali FCICM OBE, holds Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management, the highest grade of individual membership. He has sat on CICM committees and the CICM Think Tank, contributing to the institute's work on credit policy, enforcement practice, and professional standards.

In September 2025, the CICM featured RCU's launch in its monthly magazine, describing the service as a new national enforcement platform designed to reshape commercial debt recovery across England and Wales. The feature appeared on page ten of the September edition, covering RCU's clearing house model, its national HCEO Partner Panel, and the scale of the opportunity the service is designed to address.

The CICM's recognition was described at the time as an important endorsement of RCU's approach. It signalled that the UK's leading professional body for credit management considered RCU's model a meaningful step forward for the sector.

What this means for RCU clients

CICM Fellowship is not awarded automatically. It reflects sustained contribution to the credit management profession at the highest level. For RCU clients, it means the service was designed by someone whose expertise has been formally recognised by the profession's own governing body.

That recognition, combined with Amir's practical involvement in CICM committees and policy work, ensures that RCU operates in line with the professional standards the sector expects. It is one part of a broader commitment to transparency, fair practice, and accountability across every stage of the enforcement process.
